FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: How do I ensure I select a legitimate, professional painting contractor?

A: Make sure that they carry Workers’ Compensation insurance, adequate liability insurance and are committed to a comprehensive Safety Program. You should check out references and, when possible, review past projects that have been completed. Membership, and participation in a trade association will help to ensure that have made a commitment to contractor education and exchanges of ideas with fellow painting contractors. All members of the Painting and Decorating Contractors of America subscribe to a code of ethics http://www.pdca.org/ethics.htm.

“Just wanted to pass along a compliment that you received today during a site visit by the Assistant Property Manager of the Indianapolis GSA. She really thought the painting "is beautiful" on the 2nd floor. She also liked the steps that were taken to cover the floor and other items that don't get painted”.

Q: What are the performance capabilities of Chas. F. Mann Painting Co.?

A: We employ an average of from 60 - 85 painters and paperhangers. Our larger workforce gives us a distinct advantage when scheduling large projects or "fast-track" jobs. We have worked on projects where we have had over 35 painters on site at one time, and have "one person" service vans that serve smaller needs.

Q: Do you have the ability to paint items at your shop?

A: We have a DeVilbiss spray booth in our shop where we coat every imaginable type of item and surface. We have ongoing contracts with several local manufacturers to coat their products, where quality control is critical. Many builders contract with us to pre-finish interior wood trim packages. We have finished everything from Armoires to Zoo equipment in our spray shop.

Q: What about abrasive blasting?

A: Our Industrial Division performs this type of work, both at jobsites and in our yard. We use a wide variety of media (see Industrial Capabilities page), from baking soda to coal slag, and are dedicated to quality control and the safe completion of our work.

Q: Do you do residential work?

A: Due to the frequent price-driven nature of the market, we have chosen not to bid residential work. We do, however, serve a limited number of residential clients that recognize the quality of the work that we perform and appreciate the value that an investment in our craftsmanship provides.

Q: Can I hire you to lay carpet or install trim?

A: No. We believe in the philosophy contained in the old quote: "A Jack of All Trades is a Master of None". Since 1923, we have been "master" of professional coatings and wallcovering contractors, and we plan to continue to concentrate our energy and efforts to being the best there is in these trades. We frequently partner with sub-contractors in the carpet, ceiling and other trades that share similar philosophies and levels of professionalism and are "the best in their fields". We will partner with them when a package price is desired.
